Used For: Relief of acute and chronic constipation and for bowel evacuation prior to surgery, colonoscopy, or X-ray examinations.

How it Works: Stimulates nerve endings in the colon mucosa, increasing peristalsis (bowel movements) and promoting water accumulation in the colon.

Usage & Safety Dosage: 5 mg to 10 mg (1–2 tablets) taken once daily, usually at night. Swallow whole. Do not take within 1 hour of dairy products or antacids.

Side Effects: Abdominal cramps, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort.

Drug Interactions: Avoid taking with milk, antacids, or PPIs (Omeprazole, Pantoprazole) as this can dissolve the enteric coating prematurely and cause severe irritation.

When Not to Use: Acute abdominal pain, appendicitis, intestinal obstruction, or severe dehydration.

Precautions: For short-term use only. Prolonged use can lead to dependence. Ensure adequate fluid intake.
