Used For: Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, and chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives).
How it Works: A selective antagonist of peripheral H1-receptors, blocking the effects of histamine released during an allergic reaction.
Usage & Safety Dosage: 60 mg taken twice daily, or 180 mg once daily, as directed by a doctor. Take with water, not fruit juice.
Side Effects: Headache, fatigue, dizziness, and nausea.
Drug Interactions: Avoid taking with fruit juices (grapefruit, orange, apple) as they can significantly reduce absorption. Caution with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium.
When Not to Use: Known allergy to Fexofenadine or any component.
Precautions: Use with caution in patients with impaired kidney function. Do not take with food (unless directed).
